New season, nice weather, no complaints.
I recently upgraded from a 5s to a 7+. It was a big jump and one that was long overdue. I was worried that the larger size would negate all the other bells and whistles but I can still one-hand it and it still fits in my back pocket. These are the things that matter to me.
The upgraded camera, specifically the new portrait mode, is a game changer. I have people (including actual photographers) asking me if I bought a new camera. Nope, just upgraded my phone.
I’m decent at making cupcakes but don’t know the last time I made a full stacked cake. As it turns out, I’m not great at it.
I’ve decided to make Sundays my new cake trial days and my first attempt last week was not so beautiful. Tasted great though.
This was Minimalist Baker’s flawless vegan funfetti cupcake recipe without the sprinkles and as a full cake. It seriously took me all day and I was so proud. Look at its sad little tilt. What should I try tomorrow? I need a win.
I just love eating out of gigantic bowls. I’m particularly obsessed with this large, shallow one from IKEA that doubles as a plate. Tragically, I only bought two of them and now can’t find them online so I’m going to have to brave the retail store.
Will report back when I find out the name of them. Might be a serving dish. Who knows?
Peanut butter cups with more peanut butter
I’ve got a bone to pick with peanut butter cups and that is that the ratio of chocolate to peanut butter is all wrong. So I just add more. Specifically, I top mine with the new Trader Joe’s mixed nut butter with almonds, cashews, walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts and pecans. As it turns out, there’s no peanut butter in there at all.
Anyway, THE BEST. So good it deserves its own dedicated post.
Nick and I are so into this cheap fast food pizza chain right now. Charlotte has had one for about a year but we only recently went to try it.
It’s a counter service place (basically like Chipotle) where you build your own pizza with custom sauce, cheese and toppings and then they cook it for 180 seconds in a wood-burning oven.
Plain cheese is just $5. I like to add zucchini even though I don’t think it’s worth $1.25. So goooood. Hit it up if you have one near you.
