The Day in Food

Hello! If you’re a former Sweet Tater Blog reader, thanks for that BUT ALSO… That blog hasn’t been a part of my life for well over a year now so I let the domain expire. As of yesterday is now home to Dr. Miguel Delgado’s plastic surgery practice and is full of boobs. So… follow or unfollow it at your leisure. I got lots of emails and messages yesterday about it so to reiterate: I do not own and can’t do anything about the boobs that are now on it. HOWEVER, if you’re looking for a “mommy makeover” we’ve totally found your guy.

RIP Sweet Tater Blog.

Other than that, here’s a little rundown of my life via food yesterday…

I went to boot camp at 6:15a with my sister. I chugged this Placebo Cocktail of apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, water and cayenne pepper and ate a Kind bar in the car. I call it the placebo cocktail because I remain unconvinced that ACV actually does anything for your body but I drink it anyway because I’m a sucker like that.

Placebo Cocktail: 1-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 1/4 pineapple juice, 8 oz water, sprinkle of cayenne

You can add more or less of everything according to your taste.

When I got home I had pumpkin oats: 1/3 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup pumpkin puree, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger. I topped it with almond butter and coconut chips.

For lunch I grabbed one of my vegan rice bowls with: brown rice, tofu, roasted brussel sprouts, chickpeas, tomatoes and vegan cucumber raita. To make vegan cucumber raita I just diced up a cucumber and mixed it with 1/4 cup hummus, a few tablespoons of almond milk to thin it out and dried dill.

I eat a Kind bar every single day at work between 3 and 4pm and yesterday was no different. I like the collection of bars with 5g of sugar. I have them on auto-delivery from Amazon.

I skipped my way out of work after a fun creative day of taking photos for our new website which will launch crazy late tonight or early tomorrow. I’m really proud of it and can’t wait to get it off my to-do list. I seriously took inventory of my emotional state walking out of the office and was like, “WHY am I so happy and energized?” Oh, because I did something fun and creative all day that involved minimal desk time. It was a pleasant reminder of who I am and what fills me up, I guess.

I met up with the girls for a Fall Menu Preview at Nan and Byron’s.

I had the tofu with veggies, “some” glasses of wine and the peanut butter and jelly cookies for dessert.

I brought one of the cookies home for Nick because food is my love language and sharing your cookies is love.

Also, I’ve been on this quest to identify the perfect red lipstick because I feel like I should just have one, right? It’s entirely possible that I’m just not design for red lipstick. I want that true red a la Gwen Stefani but I always end up with something too orange or too blue.

I test these concepts (along with obnoxious fashion trends) when I’m out with my girlfriends because that is the safe zone and they will tell me if I look like an asshole. I just think no. I’m a chapstick girl forever and ever amen.

  1. “I brought one of the cookies home for Nick because food is my love language and sharing your cookies is love.” <<— My thoughts exactly. Food is love.

  2. Girlfriends are the best at testing trends! We had a long talk about crop tops at my last girls night. We’re in Minnesota so we have not done it ourselves, but decided that if we were in college (and weather resistant) we would have bought a couple by now.

Haha I’m pro crop top for life. Guilty.

      • You were actually my example for crop tops being mature and not sophomore slutty.

Hahaha I’m putting this on my resume: successfully wears crop tops without looking sophomore slutty.

  3. TaMo TaMo

Reds should always have blue undertones or your teeth look yellow. Yours probably would not. I would say a red lip is hard to do. I’m never quite sure if I like Taylor Swift with a red lip, but it is supposedly, iconic. What do I know?

I am intrigued with the placebo cocktail. What are the health advantages of apple cider vinegar? I know vinegar is a workhorse, but I’m curious if it would work for digestive issues. It’s a great rinse for hair!

    • Katie Katie

Apparently it’s the ultimate wonder food. People claim it has benefits for everything from acne and dandruff to weight loss and digestion. The way I see it, I like the taste and it’s certainly not harming me so if there’s a remote chance it’s also helping me, I’ll take it.

  4. Jen Jen

How ironic! For some unbeknownst reason, I was just (literally, right before I clicked on my link to your blog) thinking about the fact that I will always think of you as “Sweet Tater.” 🙂

  5. I highly suggest MAC Ruby Woo. It has worked on almost every complexion of skin, from my caramelly brown, to my porcelain white friend.
