Hello and a very happy Caturday to you!
This week the cats are proud to report that they have switched their meals over to Castor & Pollux Organix, a food that is tested on animals only to the extent that it is given to shelter pets for taste testing. This is what they say anyway. Please feel free to correct us.
The cats asked me to switch their food after learning that companion pet food companies often utilize brutal and unfair testing procedures on their peers. (Iams is one of the worst, by the way.) We had no idea!
So far everyone is pleased with the new food but me because I have to buy it.
I know it probably sounds ridiculous (and obnoxious) but I’m just trying to understand my little impact on the big ol’ world, and this includes the things I buy. Last month I transitioned all my beauty products to cruelty free varieties and have been really happy with that small step. Next up was the cat food (success still pending), and then all of my cleaning supplies are on deck for September. Don’t worry, I’ve got my eye on the shitty “fast fashion” I love to support in the form of sweatshoppy H&M and Forver21 too. I’m just dreading that phase out because clearly I love me some cheapass clothes, but I know someone somewhere is paying the price for that.
Make no mistake, I don’t think I’ll ever get it all right (that would be being Amish, I think), but I will at least educate myself and try to understand the behind the scenes operations of different industries and then pick my poisons accordingly.
Weaz is already over it.
